Leave the GPS at home and follow your nose.
Once more unto the studio, dear friends, there is always once more; Or barricade the door with the remnants of failed attempts.
The battle, that I am happy to fight, continues…
Been locked away in the studio, diligently working on the completion of Two Cuboids 36 – 18 – 6. I know that this was scheduled to be completed back in January. Then I said it was going to be completed in March, I think? Well, I’m happy to say that I am 3 images away from its completion. The finish line is in sight, but this is not the time for celebrating. More must be done before the popping of the cork.
Psst! Come closer. If you listen closely you can hear the thunderous applause of my inner cheering section building with every brush stroke.
Working in a series has allowed me to explore pure painting through sequence. The sequence is the mechanism that advances the work through the process of deconstruction and gives existence to the plane. It is important to stay true to the two-dimensionality of the support surface and not create a false impression of three-dimensionality, as this may produce a paradox.
In the fall of 2014, I discovered the anonymously created Tantric drawings from India. The drawings are simplistic but so powerful that I immediately found a connection. The images, in the Tantric tradition, serve specific meditative functions for their creators and their viewers. Not having any experience with Tantric drawing or practice, I wanted to explore the possibilities by using only found materials around the studio or things that I may find on my walks around the neighborhood.

The end of January was the anticipated time to reveal my new body of work, Two Cuboids 36 – 18 – 6. Unfortunately it has become necessary for me to push that date back to February. In the coming weeks I will have a more concrete date of reveal.
